Thanksgiving Invitations

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

Due to certain “remodeling” projects that my sister-in-law has undertaken at my brother’s house, I will be hosting Thanksgiving this year. Last year, certain relatives felt that plans were up-in-the-air because there was no formal invitation issued. To stave off problems this year, I decided to go ahead and make up some invitations to Thanksgiving for all of my family.

The invitations were inspired by a sketch over at OWH Stars and Stamps blog. The background was from an All-Seasons paper pack that I picked up at HobbyLobby. I designed the lattice work in CorelDraw (it was based-off of a Martha Stewart Punch I saw online) and cut it with my Cricut and SCAL. The ribbon threader was also designed for and cut by my Cricut. The “ribbon” itself is fabric edging given to me by my grandmother who was attempting to clean out some of her craft room. Finally, the turkey sticker was originally a piece of clipart from an old ART EXPLOSION! CD. One day I will post a how-did-I-do-that on here… but not today.

FB Birthday Bash! Challenge #3: Pick a Sketch

Sunday, September 19th, 2010

I made this card to go along with Sketch Challenge #35 and with OWH Stars and Stamps  Facebook Birthday Bash Challenge #3. The girl digi was from a German (?) Blog that I cannot read, but she has several free digi-stamps that I thought were really cute. She was colored in Corel Draw and then print and cut with the Cricut.

Midweek Throwdown Challenge: Birthday Cards

Thursday, September 16th, 2010

I used a sketch from PencilLines.com to create this card. I was in a purplish mood and after fooling around with glossy accents for hours and not liking my results, I finally settled on a matte finish… lol! The sentiment  was printed onto paper bought from JoAnn’s using the font Embassy BT. It was cut with a “nestability” pattern available on Heather M’s Blog, and my Cricut.

Pink Birthday Card Challenge

Monday, September 13th, 2010

This card was designed to meet sketch challenge #34 (#33 by title) over at Operation Write Home. I used black, pink, and hot pink cardstock, textured with texture plates from Sizzix and Fiskers. The piece of cake was an old clipart image from an ART EXPLOSION! CD. I printed an outline of the image on a regular piece of 8.5 by 11 piece of paper. On a sheet of cardstock, I cut out the outline with the Cricut and SCAL. Then I lightly attached the cut out piece to the outline on the regular sheet of paper with some tape from my ATG gun. Finally, I ran that piece of paper through the printer again, printing out the image onto the cut card stock.

As you can see from this image the cake is glossy – I covered the cake with Glossy Accents 1. to give it a sheen, and 2. to protect the printed image from scratches andwater damage

Yellow Thank You Challenge

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

So, I am a little late entering this weeks Sketch Challenge, but here goes… the first thing you will notice is that my card doesn’t look like the sketch. I actually turned the majority of the sketch 90 degrees so that my inspiration paper for the rest of the card could be seen. I don’t think the card would have made any sense with the multi-colored flower and the majority of the black vines and leaves covered.
